I am interested in pursuing a position in a public school setting that will enable me to combine my passion for dance and my enthusiasm for teaching. I strive to use my talents and abilities to successfully guide, motivate and inspire students to become better versions of themselves. As a dance educator, I encourage my students to pursue their passions for dance while maintaining a love and respect for themselves. Through approaches that emphasize personal freedom, choice, self-determination, and personal growth, I strive to develop students that are artistically challenged and mentally grounded.

Through strong organizational skills and a unique educational background, I would be highly qualified for a position that requires me to lead and conduct the daily activities of a drill team, and the corresponding dance classes. I have experience leading a successful program of over 400 students and look forward to bringing that expertise to another campus. With this experience, I am capable of handling dance classes that achieve the physical education requirement as well as a thriving after school extracurricular program that supports teamwork, commitment, responsibility and student leadership.

I am prepared to generate and implement creative lessons, based on Madeline Hunter’s lesson design that will develop the cognitive, emotional, and social skills of students with varying learning styles and intelligences. I am capable of utilizing Harry Wong’s classroom management principles to maintain an orderly and organized, but still comfortable and student-centered environment. This organization decreases distractions and transitions in my classroom and increases time allotted for instruction and lesson engagement so that my classes experience an appropriately rigorous curriculum.

My dance teams have won numerous prestigious titles in regional, state and national competitions and I am proud of the successes my program has found under my leadership. But these awards and recognitions do not begin to prove the importance of my coaching or the legacy I hope to leave with my students. I coach to make connections, give students a sense of belonging and promote good decision making in tough situations. I coach to affirm, communicate and deliver constructive feedback to benefit the physical, cognitive and emotional development of my students. I coach to open my student’s eyes to the world around them and focus their energy on what they can do for others. These are the qualities that I can bring to your campus and your dance program.

I believe that teachers and coaches hold a very influential role in a child’s life, and that is a position that I will always uphold with the utmost pride and integrity. I appreciate you taking the time to review my credentials and experiences. Thank you for your consideration.
